Emmys Fashion Boasts 27.85 Carat Pink Diamond Discovered by Alrosa in Russia:
The Russian mining company Alrosa has unearthed an amazing diamond find – a light pink 27.85 carat piece of rough. This is an amazing find in lots of ways. One is that natural colored diamond rough is hard to come by over 10 carats, especially one of gem quality. Secondly, when it comes to pink diamond rough, the company has only found 3 pink diamonds weighing more than 2 carats in the past 8 years! This find would be the most expensive polished diamond in the company’s history if they decide to polish ‘er up. We can’t wait to see what happens next for this 27.85 carat beauty.
Graff Diamonds Buys Largest Gem-Quality Diamond Rough for $53 Million:
We wrote about this diamond a while back and now it has found an owner! This diamond, discovered by the Canadian mining company Lucara Diamond Group in north-central Botswana, is named the “Lesedi La Rona,” meaning “our light” in Botswana’s Tswana language. The 1,109 carat piece of rough was purchased by Graff Diamonds for a cool $53 million. This special diamond “is the world’s largest gem-quality rough diamond to be discovered in more than a century and the largest rough diamond in existence today.” And not only that – it also happens to possess exceptional quality and transparency, which makes it even more rare. Can you imagine the beauty that will be unlocked once the stone is polished!
