Tudor watches, we can’t forget about our timepieces, are in heavy demand while we focus a lot on gemstones & jewelry these days. Solomon Joseph was a certified railroad timer and worked on “railroad approved” pocket watches to be sure they were running on time. And when the 3:05 pm arrived, everyone’s watch said 3:05 pm. One particular watch brand that also is steeped in history is TUDOR, a watch company not only with a rich history, but one that focuses on fine craftsmanship and style. The Swiss brand was created by Hans Wilsdorf in 1926 and had its official launch in 1946.
You may also recognize the name Hans Wilsdorf from another premium watch brand – he founded Rolex in 1905. We think this quote from Hans himself sums up the TUDOR brand & its relationship with Rolex quite well:
“For some years now, I have been considering the idea of making a watch that our agents could sell at a more modest price than our Rolex watches, and yet one that would attain the standard of dependability for which Rolex is famous. I decided to form a separate company, with the object of making and marketing this new watch. It is called the Tudor watch company.”
